Sunbeams Preschool
Purpose and Philosophy
Platte Woods United Methodist Church Sunbeams Preschool is here to provide a warm, loving atmosphere in which children may play, socialize and participate in experiences which meet the developmental stages of early childhood. Our philosophy is that each child has a unique personality and will be treated as a special individual. The small teacher/student ratio allows that personalized treatment. Our purpose is to serve families in our church and community, offering them a comfortable atmosphere for their child's growth and natural learning experiences.

Here your child will learn to love, accept, help and forgive others because Christ first loved and forgave them. At Sunbeams Preschool, children are encouraged to develop their God-given talents in a secure atmosphere of love and acceptance.
What We Offer
We believe in helping children experience all areas of development so that they may be better prepared for their elementary school experience. We provide children an opportunity to learn about cooperation, manners, sharing, social skills, listening and following instructions in a nurturing Christian environment. A day's activities could include fitness time or music; special "theme" days; exposure to letters, numbers and colors; project time; and just plain having fun. Our teacher/pupil ratio is 1 to 10. All teachers have college degrees and experience with early childhood education.
Dates and Registration
Registration for fall 2010 is going on now! Tuition is $90 per month for 3-year-olds, $120 per month for 4- and 5-year-olds, and $210 per month for Sunbeams Extreme. Our non-refundable registration fee is $65 for two- and three-day, and $100 for Sunbeams Extreme.
Hours are as follows:
- Two-Day Program for three-year-olds: Tuesday and Thursday, 8:45 - 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 - 3:15 p.m. (Must be 3 years old before Aug. 1.)
- Three-Day Program for four- and five-year-olds: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:45 - 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 - 3:15 p.m. (Must be 4 years old before Aug. 1 -- one year from kindergarten.)
- Sunbeams Extreme -- Sunbeams Preschool also offers a Sunbeams Extreme five-day preschool program for children who are 4 by August 1. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:45 a.m.-11:30 a.m. or 12:30 - 3:15 p.m. (Must be 4 years old before Aug. 1)
Need a Full-Day Program?
Parents' Day Out at PWUMC is available before or after all preschool programs. Our staff will escort your child from one program to the other each day.
