Counseling Ministry
To build an outwardly focused Christian community of full participants in the life of grace.
The counseling ministry at Platte Woods United Methodist Church nurtures that experience and expression of "the life of grace" as stated in our mission statement. We do this by providing professional counseling for church members as well as offering a variety of support groups.
Current Groups
Grief Wilderness Groups start in January.
Common Myths About Grief:
- Tears are a sign of weakness. Tears, just like sweat, remove the toxins from our bodies. Tears are a sign of the courage and strength it takes to heal.
- Time heals all wounds. Time by itself has no power to heal. It helps create the illusion of distance. Only intention and hard work can heal.
- Grief happens in stages. Grief is not orderly, pretty, or predictable.
In fact, grief often feels like walking through a wilderness.
Join us as we share in
our journey through the healing process. Since grief is not predictable or orderly, we welcome new members all the time. Join us where ever you are in your journey and no matter who in your life you have lost.

Counseling
Our counseling ministry is unique in that we have a full-time Licensed Professional Counselor on staff here at Platte Woods Church. Vicki Dale, M.S., L.P.C., is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and a National Board-Certified Counselor. She has 18 years of experience in dealing with issues such as marital conflict, domestic violence, grief, adolescent struggles, depression, divorce and parenting issues. Vicki is available to provide counseling for individuals, couples, families and groups. Counseling is set up by contacting Vicki directly for a consultation.
We are also excited to announce the launch of a new ministry called Congregational Care Ministry. Carol Cross is currently being trained to provide Congregational Care through this ministry, especially as a support group facilitator.
