The diverse Music Ministry of Platte Woods Church serves the congregation by leading us in worship and praise with instrumental and vocal music. This ministry is a wonderful way for anyone who sings or plays an instrument to become more involved at PWUMC.
For more information about our vocal groups (Wesleyan, Jubilante, Celebration Singers and Praise Team), please contact Walter Bryant, director of music.
The Wesleyan Choir is a traditional full choir, and sings for the 11 a.m. worship service on Sundays as well as special seasonal services. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m.
This service choir meets on a short-term basis and provides music for our Sunday 8:15 a.m. service. This group rehearses once a week, on Monday or Tuesday evenings, at 7 p.m.
The Celebration Singers provide worship leadership at the Sunday 9:30 worship service. There are no auditions for this choir, which is open to youth and adults.
The Platte Woods Praise Team is a select group of adult singers who lead in worship at our 9:30 a.m. Sunday service. This is an audition choir.
We offer children's choirs for children age preschool through 5th grade. For more information, please see our W.O.W. page.
The Miracle Ringers, our adult handbell choir, rehearse on Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m. We ring monthly at the 11 a.m. services throughout the year and for special services. We attend workshops, camps and festivals to advance our abilities and have fun with other ringers. We have available five octaves of handbells and over five octaves of choirchime, and are always looking for more ringers. In the future, we would like to expand to have more than one choir. If interested, please contact Sara Washington (816-468-6097).
Our instrumental program is for high school through adult age instrumentalists. The orchestra provides worship leadership monthly for our Sunday 11 a.m. worship service. The orchestra rehearses at 8:00 p.m. Wednesdays. If you play an instrument and are interested in using your talents in this group, please contact Mike Everman (741-2972).
Each week a different group of talented volunteers joins Mat Thornton to lead NEXT Worship. Worship styles range from folksy acoustic to big electric contemporary styles. Do you play an instrument or sing? Contact Mat to get involved with this growing ministry.
