Why We Do Risk-Taking Mission, Justice and Service

At Platte Woods United Methodist Church we believe all people have a call placed on their hearts by God to spread the good news of God’s love in Jesus Christ and serve in response to that love. We believe the Holy Spirit empowers and gives us everything we need to accomplish wonderful, adventurous and challenging acts of mission. Having the Spirit’s power means we can risk and dream beyond our own ability. We know many of God’s beloved children in this world go without food, clean drinking water, shelter and clothing. Our call as part of the body of Christ is to serve those in need. We are also called to ask the question, “Why?” Why is there such need in the world? Then ask, “How do we change the world into the kingdom of God on earth where need is erased?” This is why we at Platte Woods United Methodist Church seek opportunities to serve and to do justice. Come serve and seek justice with us!
